CAPITAL CONQUEST – un évènement exceptionnel
Les premiers mots de Xavier Fleury -6e dan Aïkibudo FIAB- au sujet du CAPITAL CONQUEST sont éloquents : «c’était un évènement exceptionnel».
C’est en effet à l’initiative de Martin Joanisse que l’on doit la participation de notre école à ce grand rassemblement qui s’est tenu les 4 et 5 novembre 2017 à Gatineau au Canada. Cette brillante initiative s’est inscrite dans un but notamment de promotion de l’Aïkibudo au Canada et aux États-Unis : « Au cours des 2 jours de l’évènement, non seulement avons-nous exposé publiquement l’Aïkibudo à d’autres pratiquants d’autres arts martiaux et sports de combat, mais nous avons également eu des personnes d’autres disciplines qui se sont joints à nous pour pratiquer des techniques enseignées par Xavier.»
Au cours d’un week-end unique, dont John Therien -9e dan Ju-Jitsu- est à l’origine, plus de 2000 visiteurs ont pu venir découvrir, observer ou même pratiquer une discipline martiale. Une grande rencontre qui se caractérise par une ambiance cordiale tel que le souligne Xavier : «ce qui ma frappé, c’est l’attitude des maîtres d’arts martiaux lors de cet évènement. Tous humbles, pas de comparaison puérile, une ouverture d’esprit superbe et de la bonne humeur. Comme nous à l’Aïkibudo »
L’AAKQ a fait coïncider le stage national avec les 2 jours de l’évènement, ce qui a permis d’exposer publiquement l’Aïkibudo à de nombreux pratiquants d’autres arts martiaux et de sports de combat et a également offert la possibilité de se joindre au groupe pour pratiquer les techniques enseignées par Xavier.
« M. Xavier Fleury a très bien représenté la FIAB et a fait honneur à l’Aïkibudo. C’est un véritable gentleman et tous, sans exception, ont apprécié sa présence, et son aisance à partager avec générosité ses connaissances techniques dans un climat d’ouverture et d’accessibilité», résume Martin. Plus de 60 participants de l’AAKQ, animés d’une grande amitié et d’une curiosité certaine ont su créer une dynamique forte autour de la présence de Xavier.
Capital Conquest s’est conclu avec une démonstration présentée devant plus de 1000 personnes dans le cadre d’un prestigieux gala du Temple de la Renommée des Ceintures Noires du Canada. La démonstration a été entièrement filmée et sera présentée en février 2018 à la télévision (…) au Canada. (…) Un montage vidéo d’environ 7 minutes sera produit avec narration en anglais. Cette vidéo servira ensuite d’outil promotionnel pour l’Aïkibudo au Canada et aux États-Unis. Parallèlement, plusieurs séquences vidéo et photos ont été captées par Jean-François Thibodeau de Didakto Communication et serviront au montage d’un reportage portant exclusivement sur l’Aïkibudo et qui sera par la suite diffusé sur le web et Facebook, dans le cadre de la série Zanshin: l’esprit du Budo. Suite à son expérience à ce stage, M. Claude Gagnon fait part de son impression dans une correspondance écrite qu’il a eu avec Maître Floquet, « Vous comprenez bien que les retombées ne sont pas immédiates mais que c’est l’image de votre art qui s’imprègne lentement dans le paysage martial nord-américain. »
Xavier est à nouveau sans équivoque quand il s’exprime à propos de cette opportunité : «Je tiens à remercier Martin Joanisse d’avoir organisé cet évènement et de m’avoir accueilli si chaleureusement. Et bien sûr, mille fois merci à maître Floquet qui m’a fait confiance en m’envoyant de l’autre côté de l’Atlantique pour le représenter»
Bien entendu, tout le groupe Aikibudo se joint à Xavier pour féliciter et remercier les organisateurs pour leur important travail ainsi que tous les participant(e)s à cet évènement remarquable, qui ont parcouru de longs kilomètres pour rejoindre Capital Conquest. Enfin, comme le souligne si joliment Martin : «Nous pouvons dire que nous avons semé quelques graines et que nous devons maintenant nous concentrer à l’entretien de ce qui germera tranquillement de tout ça…»
CAPITAL CONQUEST – an exceptional event
“It was an exceptional event!”These were Xavier Fleury’s (6th dan AïkibudoFIAB) first, eloquent words about CAPITAL CONQUEST.
Spurred by Martin Joanisse’s proposal, our school participated in this major gathering held on November 4th and 5th in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. A key goal of this brilliant initiative was to promote Aïkibudoin Canada and the United States: “During the two days of the event, we not only demonstrated Aïkibudo publicly to practitioners of other martial arts and combat sports, but we also had members of other disciplines join us to practice the techniques that Xavier was teaching.”
During thisunique weekend – the brainchild ofJohn Therrien (9th dan Ju-Jitsu) – more than 2000 visitors came to discover, observe or even practice a martial discipline. It was a great meeting, characterized by a friendlyatmosphere, as Xavier notes: “What struck me was the attitude of the martial arts masters during the event. All were humble, there was no childish comparison, there was a superb open-mindedness and good humour. Just like us in Aïkibudo.”
The AAKQ (Association d’Aïkibudo et de Kobudo du Québec) in Canada arranged to have its national workshop to coincide with the event’s two days, making it possible to put Aïkibudo on display for numerous practitioners of other martial arts and combat sports, who were also invited to join the group in practicing the techniques taught by Xavier.
“Mr. Xavier Fleury represented the FIAB (International Aïkibudo Federation) very well, and was a worthy ambassadorof Aïkibudo; he is a real gentleman. All, without exception, appreciated his presence, the ease with which he was sharing his technical expertise in a spirit of openness and accessibility,” as Martin summed up. Xavier’s presence enabled over 60 AAKQ participants to develop a strong dynamic in a spirit of great friendship and curiosity.
Capital Conquest ended with a demonstration in front of over 1000 people during a prestigious gala event for the Black Belts of Canada Hall of Fame. The full demonstration was filmed and will be presented in February 2018 on Canadian television. A 7-minute edited excerpt will also be produced, with English-language narration. This video will then serve as a promotional tool for Aïkibudo in Canada and the United States. In parallel, several photographs and video sequences, by Jean-François Thibodeauof Didakto Communication, will serve in a video clip specifically on Aïkibudo that will be posted on the web and Facebook as part of the series Zanshin: l’esprit du Budo.
After participating in this workshop, Mr. Claude Gagnon shared his thoughts with Master Floquet in writing: “You may understand that the impact is not immediate, but that the image of your art is making its way slowly in the North-American landscape.”
Speaking of this opportunity, Xavier was once again emphatic: “I want to thank Martin Joanisse for organizing this event and for welcoming me generously. I also want, of course, to thank Master Floquet for trusting me to travel across the Atlantic to represent him.”
The whole Aïkibudo group, along with Xavier, wants to congratulate and thank the organizers for their important work, as well as all participants in this remarkable event who travelled long distances to reach Capital Conquest. In the end, as Martin notes poetically: “We can say that we have sowed some seeds and that we must now focus on nurturing gently what will grow from them.”
